Volkswagen Will Build A Competitor To The Bmw 5 Series
Volkswagen plans to release a new model, which will be a direct competitor to the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class. This is with reference to sources inside the company said the publication Auto Bild.
According to insiders, a conceptual framework for a new future model will be taken as the prototype Concept D, shown in 1999 at the Frankfurt motor show. Moreover, the novelty has become a global model, with an appropriate design and technical component that satisfied customers from different regions of the world - from Asia to the USA.
What will you take as a basis for such a car? In Volkswagen considering two options. First, the new model could be derived from the American version of the new Volkswagen Passat, which will be produced at the plant in Chattanooga starting in 2017. In this case, the novelty can obtain six-cylinder engines, without which it will be very hard to fight for an American client.
The second option is to release the car based on the Audi A6. Then a new model Volkswagen can get both four-cylinder engines power 190-220 HP and six-cylinder units, developing 272-299 horsepower.
It is interesting that the new Volkswagen will not be another sedan. Instead, the car will be released in two types of body: liftback and wagon. By the way, the estimated cost of new items is already known - it will be about 37 500 euros. And among the possible sites for the Assembly of the new Volkswagen discusses China, Mexico and the USA.
